Interesting podcast episode on Youth Digitality

Published on November 30, 2023 – This year, the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences of the University of Amsterdam launched a new research priority area (RPA) on Youth Digitality. ACHC-member Eline Smit serves on the board of this RPA. Recently, together with two of the other members, she recorded a podcast episode on the subject.

The RPA Youth Digitality aims to explore how youth develop in a digital world, how they navigate interconnections between the offline and online world and digital platforms, and how they relate to society and others in a digital context. The main themes in this RPA revolve around: 1) digital development, and uncovering technology and digital media use patterns, mechanisms and effects, 2) digitality in schools, and improving learning without increasing the digital divide, and 3) digitality and well-being, and harnessing the power of digitality for youth.

Recently, ACHC-member Eline Smit was featured in a podcast episode (in Dutch), in which the RPA and the subject of Youth Digitality are discussed in more detail. More specifically, Eline and her colleagues talk in this episode about the influence of technology and digital media on youth. They discuss questions like “How are youth influenced and shaped by the digital world they find themselves in? ”, “How do youth navigate between the offline and online world? ”, and “How do we make youth more resilient? ”.
