Published on June 8, 2023 – On May 10th, 2023, the Amsterdam Center for Health Communication (ACHC) held a symposium on ‘Wearable Tech for Health’. The organization was in the hands of Anne Vos and Eline Smit.
During the symposium, questions such as ‘What are the latest findings about wearable technology for health?‘ and ‘How can we use wearable technology to increase motivation to comply with a healthy lifestyle?‘ were discussed. The first keynote lecture during the symposium was given by ACHC member Anne Vos, who recently completed a PhD project on the development and evaluation of a mobile walking coach (within the Supreme Nudge project). The second keynote was given by Corinne Herrijgers (KU Leuven), working on a project on the development of a smartphone just-in-time-adaptive intervention for people doing chemsex (the Budd app). In addition to these two keynote lectures, there were presentations from both science and health communication practice, and a number of Blitz presentations in which recent work or work-in-progress was discussed.
An overview of all presentations, including slides, can be found on our website. Moreover, a summary of all the talks in the form of a Twitter thread can be found via our own Twitter account.
