AMIF grant for ACHC researchers to improve access to mental health care for migrants

Published on October 18, 2021 – In collaboration with nine European partners, Barbara Schouten and Julia van Weert have received a grant from the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) to develop an evidence-based digital platform and to evaluate the extent to which this platform improves access to mental health care for patients with low language skills in their European host country.

The consortium will investigate how patient information in the form of narratives and an e-Learning module to healthcare providers influences access to mental health care and patient outcomes. The results of the project are expected to have a significant impact on improving access to and quality of mental health care for patients with low proficiency in the language of their healthcare provider.

The grant is over 1,300.000 euros and will be used to hire a postdoctoral researcher. Staff will also be recruited at the partner universities involved.
