Research: I am working as a research assistant concerning the PhD projects of Minh Hao Nguyen and Maria Altendorf. In the first project we investigate how online information should be presented to older cancer patients. In a randomized controlled trial we investigate the effects of exposure to a website that is tailored to patients’ mode preferences as compared to exposure to a standardized, non-tailored, website. We aim to establish theory- and evidence-based guidance for optimal information provision to older cancer patients.

In the second project we investigate the online communication with smokers who are motivated to stop smoking. Our focus is on the effects of personalised frames (frame tailoring). We will use the individual differences in need for autonomy to personalize the frames. After identifying the most autonomy-supportive frames these will be used and investigated in a web-based smoking cessation intervention.
