Interests: Prof. dr. Eugène Loos is a Professor of Old and New Media in an Ageing Society in the Department of Communication Science at the University of Amsterdam. He is also an Associate Professor at the Utrecht School of Governance (USG), Utrecht University in the Netherlands. He is a member of the Dutch research schools ASCoR (Amsterdam School of Communication Research) and the Netherlands Institute of Government (NIG). His research focuses on (1) silver gaming, (2) the role of old and new media and (3) the way older people are represented in the media. Insights from his studies can be used to enhance accessible information for senior citizens in order to guarantee their inclusion in our society. He was part of the COST Actions 269 “User aspects of ICT”, COST 298 “Participation in the Broadband Society” (http://www.cost298.org/) and COST Action IS0906 “Transforming Audiences, Transforming Societies” (http://www.cost-transforming-audiences.eu). Currently he is co-chair of the Media Work Group of the COST Action “Ageism” isch/IS1402 (www.notoageism.com).
Research: He has conducted research and written several books and articles in the field of organisational (intercultural) organization. Currently his research focuses on the role of new media related to accessible health information for senior citizens.
