Groups at Risk

In this research area, we study the effects of health communication for specific at-risk groups.

Health is a universal need, but some groups take a relatively higher share of the health risks than others. Health communication interventions often targets high risk groups, such as ethnic minorities, the elderly, adolescents, patients with severe illnesses, people with lower health literacy, lower education, lower socio-economic strata. In this research area, we study the effects of health communication on high risk groups and examine to which extent and how health communication can be tailored to specific groups in order to decrease health disparities and reduce health risks among these groups. The OncoCommunicAging (OCA) research program that aims to improve the offline and online communication with older cancer patients is part of this theme.
